Aston Martin had revealed their latest addition in the vantage race car division, the Vantage GT4 race car.It is powered by a 4.7 liter V8 engine rather than the old 4.3 liter engine found on the previous Vantage N24.
The Vantage GT4 is built based on the FIA GT4 specification. It is aimed for professional driver or for the enthusiasts. The car is set to be used in championships such as FIA GT4 European Cup; British GT4,Dutch GT4 Championship or even in the Aston Martin owner club races.
Other than the newer and larger engine, changes include the upgraded free flow exhaust and air filters .The car now uses a 6 speed manual or an option of a sportshift transmission with paddle controls is available. A valeo twin plate cerametallic racing clutch and a lightweight flywheel is being used in both version.
A glance of the interior shows that a Recaro racing seat is being used coupled with a Sabelt six-point harness with a single push to release button.A suede trimmed steering with a quick release mechanism is install too ease the driver to get in and out of the car.
And the most obvious changes noticed is the addition of high-strength roll cage to stiffen up the chassis and protect the driver in a crash.
The car only weigh 1330 kg, 300kg lighter than the standard Vantage V8. The weight is shaven of by stripping out the interior and the usage of lightweight moulding for the panel and the door casing.
The suspension system of the car also got some touches by their engineers where s larger diameter roll bar is fitted at the forn and the rear of the car. An adjustable ride height aluminium dampers as well as single rate, flat ground springs with separate helper springs had been fitted. The wheel used is made from cast magnesium similar to an aircraft wheel.A high performance yokohama A048-R tires is wrapped all arounf the car and working together with the tyre is an upgraded Pagid RS 29 race pads.
The road car’s basic active safety systems including the dynamic stability control, traction control, ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution have been carried over to the Vantage GT4.
