KUALA LUMPUR: PLUS Expressways Bhd (PLUS) is giving a toll rebate of 30 percent for motorists using the electronic system at its toll in conjunction with this year’s Aidilfitri and Merdeka Day celebration.
Its managing director and chief executive officer, Datuk Noorizah Abd Hamid, said the affected motorists would enjoy the toll rebate on Aug 15, 16, 22, 23 and 31.
“The toll rebate is for motorists using the PLUSMiles card, Touch ‘n Go card or SmartTAG when paying toll at expressways managed by PLUS,” he said in a statement here on Tuesday.
She said the rebate would be given to add merriment to the Aidilfitri and Merdeka celebrations, as well as to encourage more motorists to use the electronic system, which was easier and faster.
However, she said, the toll rebate would not be given to motorists using the toll plaza at Tanjung Kupang, Bukit Kayu Hitam, Sultan Iskandar Building and the Penang bridge.
Noorizah said motorists could claim the rebate at the PLUS customer service center when they wanted to top up their cards from Oct 1 to Dec 31.
With the festive season, she expected the traffic to increase by 30 per cent to 1.4 million daily.
As such, PLUS advised motorists to pay toll using the electronic system to expedite transactions at the toll and also to enable them to go through the toll plaza faster, she added. – Bernama
