25 SCHOOL SPM LEAVERS COMPLETES PYTP TRAINING.
A total of 25 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) school leavers who completed the Perodua Youth Training Programme (PYTP) recently will soon receive the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia 1 (SKM 1) certification.
“The youth armed with the SKM 1 certification are now certified semi-skilled workers. They can either opt to work or continue their studies,” Perodua managing director En Aminar Rashid Salleh said at the graduation ceremony held at Perodua Learning Centre here recently.
He said most the PYTP graduates were offered employment with Perodua as assistant mechanics, assistant body repaired or assistant paint sprayers.
Every year, Perodua conducts the PYTP, a six month in house training for some 40 SPM school leavers until they obtain the SKM 1.
This programme provides basic technical training to school leavers who have strong interest in the automotive industry but lack the opportunity to further their studies at other instituitions due to financial constraints or lack of good results.
The PYTP was initiated in 1999 for youth living in the Gombak and Hulu Selangor districts. Due to the encouraging responses, Perodua decided in 2007 to open the intake to all youths in the country.
“We received some 400 applications from youth all over the country to undergo the programme every year. This programme forms part of our corporate responsibility in addressing the socio-economic problems faced by school leavers from relatively poor families,” En.Aminar Rashid added.
