    2014 NEW FORMULA ONE F1 ENGINE SPECIFICATION - 1.6 LITER V6 TURBO!

Renault officially introduced its new Formula One engine Details for 2014 F1 which follows the new f1 rule with 1.6-Liter V6 Turbo Unit that produced extremely amazing 760 HP which capable of running at 35 Percent More Fuel-Efficient.

Summary of f1 engine spec 2014:

    + 1.6 liter V6
    + 6 cylinder with rpm cut 15000
+ Turbocharged with nice and loud blow off sound – kecepish!
+ 600 horsepower from engine and 160hp from energy recovery system ERS
+ 3.5 bar boost max pressure

Starting with the 2014 season, Formula 1 regulations shift drastically, and the most significant change is the switch from 2.4-liter normally aspirated V8 engines to 1.6-liter direct-injected turbocharged V6 units.

Renault is the first F1 engine manufacturer to present the new power unit, officially named Energy F1-2014 to reflect synergies with the fuel-efficient Energy engine used in its road cars. The 1.6-liter V6 engine is fitted with energy recovery systems that increase efficiency by harvesting energy dissipated as heat in the exhaust or brakes.

The new power unit develops a total of around 760 horsepower, 600 hp of which will be supplied by the 1.6-liter engine. The remaining 160 horsepower come from the energy recovery system. Renault says the maximum power of the new Power Unit will exceed the output of the current V8 F1 engines, despite the fact that fuel efficiency will be improved. New regulations allow only 100 kg of fuel for an entire race, meaning the new units will have to use 35 percent less fuel than their predecessors.

Compared to the current V8, the new V6 will have a lower rev limit of 15,000 rpm, down from 18,000 rpm. However, the turbocharger with a maximum boost pressure of 3.5 bar and the new ERS (Energy Recovery System), which is twice as powerful as the current KERS (120kW vs 60kW), will more than compensate for that. The new engine will also have to be more reliable, as each driver will only be allowed to use five engines for the entire season, down from eight units now.

So with all these changes, what will happen to the beautiful sounds of V8 engines? Renault says engine noise will remain an important ingredient of the F1 show. “Fundamentally the engine noise will still be loud. It will wake you from sleep, and circuit neighbors will still complain. The engine noise is just a turbocharged noise, rather than a normally aspirated noise: you can just hear the turbo when the driver lifts off the throttle and the engine speed drops,” says Rob White, Deputy Managing Director (technical). Well, that’s reassuring enough – for me at least.

v-6 at 1.6 liters, tells me that the piston speed can be much higher in the small for a v-6 but can have the short rod and short stroke and not rev as high but be way more fuel efficient. The pistons small diameter is so good that the ignition spark flame will not be able to jump a head of the piston’s speed . Even with the slower burning fuel they burn?? Or maybe can get by with a lower octane rating to match the increase FPS flips per second known and gearing weight with driver and match the fuel mix to that particular combination.

To high octane number as to how fast the pistons move a way from top dead center. Another words the piston speed can get so high that the slower burning higher octane fuel flame never goes out. Even after the cycle has gone through all four cycles. Even when the F-1 engine rpm goes up the ignition retards back for timing advance helps at that power band and rpm. You can either tune the bore stroke piston speed to the fuel at hand or to a blend or both to see which fuel makes the most power will determine which way you need to go with the recipe, your home blend of fuel will tell you which way to build your engine for the fuel that all f-1 drivers have to use.

It will tell you if you need more or less piston speed. If less then use a longer rod shorter skirt piston. wrist pins and ring lands will need changing. And or If you need more piston speed than what you are running use a short rod taller piston, higher ring land piston.. You must keep the compression the same. Symmetrical engines are of my likings, bore x stroke the same. Flame front piston speed can all be done with rod length. A v-6 that might not idle below 5500 rpm, Having a air starter that turns said rpm’s just to start the engine. All kinds of blended fuel to start the engine for a different day.

Having to have known data written down for a similar day the combo needed to heat and start the engine. Not so long ago if the engine bogged after fueling. The engine might not restart, now days they push the car with it in 4th or higher gear and get the rpm’s high enough to fire the f-1 engine to life.
