    2011 LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO TRICOLORE

    According Italy is celebrating 150 years since its unification, the super car maker will build a special edition of the Gallardo called the Tricolore

    The name “Tricolore” is symbol of the Italian flag, which decorates the car in the form of a three-colored stripe that stretches across the hood, the driver’s seat and the roof in a way that reminds of the LP550-2 Valentino Balboni edition. Other than the green, white and red stripe, the Gallardo Tricolore also sports carbon-fiber mirror caps and a white paint.

    Lamborghini offered no technical details of the special edition model and has yet to announce the number of cars it plans to build, though our bet would go to 150. But the 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore will be officially introduced on March 16 in Turin, at an exhibition dedicated to the Italian state anniversary.

    2011 SHAYTON EQUILIBRIUM RENDERING

    Shayton is a new Slovenian brand that plans to build a supercar, one that would “sweep the competition”, as its overly optimistic press release reads. The name Shayton means “falcon” in Sioux Indian, one of the most feared birds of prey that is also the company’s logo.

    Although a company that hasn’t actually built a car, it is overly optimistic press release reads is like in the world of extreme supercars, names like Bugatti, Koenigsegg or Pagani are instantly recognized and respected. Shayton, sports coupe is called the Equilibrium. The Slovenian Zonda-wannabe will be powered by a V12 engine capable of 1,084 horsepower and 930 Nm of torque (686 lb-ft) at 5,000 rpm.

    Thanks to the extensive use of aluminium, carbon fiber and titanium, the car is said to have a dry weight of 1,200 kg (2,645 lbs) and a power-to-weight ratio of 1.42 kg/hp. In theory, reckons the Shayton Equilibrium should be able to reach a top speed of over 400 km/h (249 mph) and cover the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and to 200 km/h in only 8.5 seconds.

    The aggressive lines of the Shayton Equilibrium are the work of local designer Andrej Stanta.
