Last April, Proton had launched the Proton Exora. For the price between RM 57,458 and RM75,998 with good looking exterior design, plus the spacious interior and extended warranty of 175,000km (or five years), this car is really a hot item. Besides, Proton also unveiled the concept of Exora which are the Proton Exora Prime and Proton Exora Prestige. The Proton Exora is a good looking MPV from what ever angle you look at it from, and Proton has done a pretty good job in this side of things, especially when the auto maker has to balance out high practicality and a competitive price point. At the front, its features a grille design that is inspired by the Proton Persona and a V-shaped low slung hood with triangular-styled head lights. The lower bumper is flanked out with fog lamps, although this is only available on the range topping H-Line variant.
The side profile looks as good as the front, with a shoulder line that angles upwards towards the rear and a roof line that stabilizes towards the rear as well. Both the shoulder line and roof line help give the Exora a lowered look, which is something important, as the MPV would look taller otherwise. There is also a nice stroke along the door handles. More character is given with wheel arches that are slightly flared and character lines at the lower side of the car which are also consistent on the front and rear bumpers. The side mirrors also feature LED indicators and are also electrically operated.
Proton Exora Prime Concept
Below are some quotes from Azlan, one of the designer of the Proton Design’s team.
“There are hundreds of ways to dress a car. You can go exquisite, loud, bling-bling, cool, etc. When we designed the Exora it was to be clean cut and progressive, inline with Proton Design’s styling philosophy moving forward. Thefore for the show car we knew we had to go the opposite direction. Given the fact that we were allowed to pimp 2 Exora’s it was evident our concept had to compliment each other as a family of sorts. And what better theme if not one of Yin & Yang.”
“At first sight both cars must have its own distinctive personality. Exora Prestige is painted in solid Jet Black whilst Exora Prime is a clean Pearl White. Their themes are simple but powerful; Prestige will be the embodiment of the successful VVIP and Prime is the corporate people mover. Both cars should also have technologies about them that improve the overall ownership value proposition. Be it the integrated rear vision cameras, LED puddle lamps, full electric chairs with message system, personalized entertainment consoles or even the custom made body kits.”
“Both cars were designed and built in record time to meet the launch event. It took a lot of dedication on the designers side as well as the project management team to ensure all the details were ironed out and ready for public scrutiny. All I can say now is that the response have been overwhelming and there is a big chance we could accept custom orders.”
