• HONDA VTEC B SERIES ENGINE GUIDE AND SPECIFICATION B16A B16B B18C B20

    Tuning a vtec engine equipped car can be very interesting. A vtec engine is famous for producing high power without the use of any forced induction. A Vtec engine is simply a high revving monsterous machine.Eventhough im a ‘turbo’guy, i do have an interest on Vtec engine, especially the B16b engine which produce 185bhp with only 1.6 liter of displacement without the aid of a turbo or superchargers.Yes, its pure engine power.

    Another thing that i like about Vtec engine is the ability to mix and match the engines. As long as the engine falls under B series, it is basically inter mixable.My favourite combo for this matter would be a B20B Block from The Honda Crv combined  with a B16A or even a B16B head.Swap in some performance cam and few tuning here and there, you’ll be smilling all day long on this monsterous machine.

    A favourite Honda car of mine is the Eg6, Ek9 Type R and the Dc2 Type R. With a race tuned engine, these machines are exceptionally fast in the touge and circuits.And if you notice, all the car that i mention is in the 90′s where they only bother on producing maximum power without even thinking of fuel consumption and emmission.It is  the glorious day of car modification.

    Eventhough all this vtec engine had been around for more tha 20 years, it is still one of the favourite engines to be worked on. Especially the B16 and the B18 series. So i would like to share as much info as possible on the Vtec B Series engine.

    8. Hi i really need some advise. I wanna purchase a eg94 with a b18b non vtec head. The bottom end is now a 2.0 i would like to buy this car and add a b16a head. Can this be done? How will i know if the vtec will kick in at the 5k plus rpm if i go through with the conversion? Do i need to buy also an ecu? Or do you connect the oil feed to the head so that the vtec kicks in? Also can i take this to honda motors to be done? Please reply as i would like to do touge racing here in cape town sa. Hey , Im an ex mitsi man, recently owned a 10sec evo and have recently purchased a 93′ dc2 b18c v-tec (not a type-r and non LSD) something i know nothing about (Honda’s) but would like a performer, just wondering what mod’s would be the best to start with to increase power for less money possible and maybe even if the type-r parts would fit straight on, —Type-R Fuel pump or get a fuel regulator?, Water pumps?, type-r ecu or full management system?, v-tec controller or not?, and 1 problem i seem to be having is that the v-tec doesn’t always work-could this mean i have a faulty distributer or ????, Please if you can help in any way possible it would be much appreciated.

Sekarang gua pakai Honda Civic lama punya body EG pakai enjin D-15B Sohc Vtec 1.5cc tapi block korek 1.8cc add on Bolt-On Turbo kit dengan Garrett TD-05 ball bearing dengan boost rendah 0.7psi siap wastegate and blowoff…ECU kena rechip,Injector kena pakai besar..and the Beres….jimat kos takpayah beli Type-R sampai puluh-puluh ribu bro…D16A atau D15B turbo bolt on kit pun dah cukup power bro…boleh cucuk cucuk atau berlaga dengan B18cC Type R…

    33. Me. I love my car. I own a DC2 GSR. Used to have a `wannabe’ Type-R engine (B18C GSR with a few Type R stuffs mixed in). Enjin kuat. Lower torque is peaky. Tapi vibration boleh tahan. Then one fine day.. (setelah dua kali overheat).. it quit on me. Aku tukar B18C Type-R. And it feels better. (Nak cerita in details.. panjang.. sesuai untuk segelas teh ais). So.. aku pikir pikir balik.. nyesal gak dulu.. aku tak tukar terus jer B18C aku tu to Type R .. instead of just wasting money buat tu.. buat ni. (Total cost buat engine dulu = approx. RM7-8K) Kalau aku trade in engine lama aku.. leh dapat paling murah RM6K. Beli half cut Type R dalam RM10K. Tambah 4K and around 2K for installing.. (paling mahal). Cheaper than korek engine. And fuel consumption better.. dan lebih tahan lasak (sebab aku kaki main korner bukan kaki 400m). So.. before you `frankestein’ your engine… buat research sedalam dalamnya. Unless korang millionaire. Then again.. kalau millionaire.. go for NSX. Buat apa pikir pasal B18/B16 kan? kan? kan?

I want too use a 1.6 16 valve vtec engine for racing.I use mostly Opel motors and they are very expencife.But i dont know a lot about Honda motors.How much power do they make and do need expencife parts like:rods,pistons ect.I may not use turbo’s or superchargers.And a last thing can i use sidedraftes or must i use fuel injection?I am using methenol fuel.

      Viscosity ikut suhu ambient negara kita 30-40degC : 15w40, 20w40, 15w50, 20w50.
      pilihan utk performance 15w40
      pilihan utk tahan lasak 20w50

      tips : guna minyak performance cthnya 15w40 yg sederhana harganya tp tukar selalu cthnya tiap2 3000-4000km lebih baik drp guna minyak mahal dan tukar tiap2 7000-10000km.

    61. alip: kalo ek 4 pintu tahun 1997 harga tu mahal. Nego lagi. Paling mahal rm33 je tapi enjin kondisi cemerlang.

      Nak check enjin, cuba mtk tgk geran. Kalo ada tukar enjin akan tau enjin code dan bleh check generation yg mana. Kalo takde tulis apa pun kat geran mungkin enjin asal vtec pekak or enjin belum endorse. Kena kes camni takyah beli or nego lagi kaw-kaw.

      Kalo nak amik gak, mtk test drive. Sila masuk hiway, tekan kaw- kaw (tapi confirm kena beli kalo dh test camni). Kalo ada benda tak puas ati, rasa ada rosak, nego lagi kasi runtuh harga…

    73. Mie: Blh. SR4 blh pakai B16A EF9 aka Small V tapi byk keje ckit bab wiring. Better go for EG6 or EG9 punya B16A aka Big V sbb wiring and dashboard plugnplay. Cuma Eg6 punya wiring diagram beza ckit je. Kalo nak real PnP go for EG9. Bside beza EF9 punya B16 dgn EG9 is about 10hp and dats mean a lot.
