This topic might be very helpfull for those who really needs a comparison between Proton Saga BLM and Perodua New Myvi (Saga Vs Myvi). And here i would like to give details of comparison between saga and myvi because i have the experience using both cars travelling thousands of km. Basically both cars have their pros and cons. Not to say one model can win easily compare to the close competitor. It is all depends on your needs.
I have the experience driving new saga BLM (saga baru) full spec auto m-line, Myvi full spec auto 1.3 litre and myvi manual 1.0 litre. So here i will give my review about saga and myvi.
Exterior Comparison New Saga VS Myvi
Exterior wise, New saga looks better than myvi at each view because it shows a proper sedan looks. I remember when the new saga launched, everyone gave a good feedback about the exterior design and like amazed that Proton can produce this type of affordable good looking car. While Perodua Myvi like a normal compact car, looks shorter but the front looks bigger like an MPV. The rear part is too big design and not so nice. But the new myvi SE puts some sporty style to the rear part and it looks ok. New saga BLM looks like a little bit small because of it is higher compare to other sedan.
Interior Comparison Myvi Vs New Saga BLM
The interior of saga and myvi has not much different. But i personally prefer interior design of Perodua Myvi because you will feel that it is spacious plus the new meter panel with optitron is nice. Center air cond duct design for saga BLM is kind of weird. The interior is too simple. More to savvy looks. But the meter panel is quite nice. The steering of saga BLM feel better to hold and very firm & looks good compare to myvi. The quality of Proton Saga BLM’s interior is better compare to myvi when you try to scratch them and knock them, you will feel the differences. The gear knob, what i realize is that Proton and Perodua have a different style of holding the gear knob. I would prefer the gear knob of Perodua instead of Proton.
Spaciousness Comparison Between New Saga BLM & Myvi
Generally, the interior space (keluasan) of new saga BLM and Myvi quite the same. You will feel spacious and roomy when you enter this two vehicles. But here is some statistic from my own measurement by using measuring tape:

Engine Performance & Handling Comparison Between Proton Saga BLM and Perodua Myvi
Here is the specification of both cars:
Total Engine Capacity (cc) : Myvi(1298) vs Saga(1332)
Horsepower(hp) both at 6000RPM : Myvi(85.8) vs Saga(94)
Torque (Nm) : Myvi (116@3200rpm) vs Saga(120@4000rpm)
horsepower/weight ratio (hp/kg): Myvi(0.089) vs Saga(0.088)
My review:
I have tried maximum speed for both auto full spec 1.3 litre car myvi and saga BLM, both have quite same max speed which is 160km/h reaching 170km/h. The different is when reaching 140km/h, the Myvi will start to shake & like swaying because of too light while the saga BLM reaching 160km/h in a very steady run without steering shaking and feel so stable like you can go further and faster.
About the pick up performance, the myvi is slightly better because of the kerb weight is less than Saga BLM. you can feel the DVVT engine in myvi doing its job while pushing the fuel paddle but not much different with Saga BLM with it’s own campro 1.3 dohc iafm engine. The saga BLM 1st auto gear feels quite slow but it will show it’s true performance while entering 2000 rpm and the next gear.
You will feel light while driving a Myvi because it is a city car with DVVT technology while you will feel more stable and have a sharp & nice handling in a saga because it is made more for cruising as a family car and tuned by lotus handling technology. But the new saga also has a characteristic of a city car with the iafm technology that control the air intake and remove the torque dip in the campro engine while driving slowly.
Fuel Consumption ( penggunaan minyak ) Petrol Comparison Between Myvi and Saga BLM:
Between Myvi auto 1.3 and Saga auto 1.3, the fuel consumption have not much different. With RM30, both can travel around 225km which is 13.33cents/km or 13.5km/litre in a constant drive on highway. The worst fuel consumption for both car which i have tried is 20cents/km or 9km/litre with extreme driving habits.
Other Features & Advantage : Comparison of saga BLM and Myvi:
New Saga BLM full spec now only have the M-Line version and not yet H-Line or New Saga BLM Special Edition. To compare the same line with myvi auto 1.3 ezi is a better comparison. Both have slightly same features.
Myvi has advance features of retractable rear seat, nice optitron meter, all 4 set of power window (saga only 2), LED turn light indicator, LED rear Lamp, 2 airbags (saga only 1), ABS & EBD, USB & Bluetooth on “Perodua” brand audio player, auto lock door when brake, warning sound if lights on when leaving car, less engine noise & overdrive button.
While saga BLM has nice power steering which is stable and have suitable load for driver, a lot of differences in audio system in Saga compare to Myvi which saga’s clarion player with 4 speakers really provide maximum bass and audio performance, smoother auto gear transmission transition which provide relax and nice ride, quiter cabin space with good noise insulation & NVH where you can feel steady while cruising on high speed, Quality of interior finishing is better, better shock absorbtion and suspension system, more comfortable seat for driver and passenger, auto lock in 5 seconds if not open door after using remote key, beep alert sound when using keyless entry remote control, stronger chasis tuned by lotus & colder air conditioning system.
Overall, this two models which is the Proton New Saga BLM and Perodua New Myvi is a very close competitor or rival in 1.3litre car categories. But Perodua Myvi 1.3 ezi full spec auto will cost RM49700 while Proton Saga BLM 1.3 full spec auto will only cost RM41500.
Myvi have an affordable version of 1.0 litre manual 3 cylinder engine which costs RM39000 while Proton New Saga now have a more powerfull engine of Saga BLM 1.6 litre campro iafm version which cost only RM39000.
This is my sincere review about both car model and i hope this will help buyers in making decision on which one do you prefer to buy. At the end, it depends on what you want. 1 car cannot satisfy all your needs. You need to choose which one will be value for your money.

Raya baru ni try bawak blm wife balik kulim. Minyak 300km dah rapat. Lebihkurang 23 sen/km. Kuat betul minyak blm ni. Kuat dari Wira SE saya. Patutlah wife saya cakap minyak kuat.
Mungkin kalau manual save sikit kot. Sesiapa yang pakai manual mai la share sikit.

Tak la jammed sangat. Bawak lebih kurang 110km/h. Cuma dekat terowong kat ipoh slow sikit.
kira2 kuat juga telan petrol tu anggaran >> 1km = 23sen jika ron 95lah
maka 100km = rm23
dimana rm23=12.105liter
oleh itu 100km = 12.105liter
menjadi 12.105 (FC)
iaitu 100km anda mmerlukan 12.105liter
blm auto atau manual?
exora manual saya hanya guna sekitar 7.6~7.7 liter utk 100 km
iaitu sekitar 14.63 sen utk setiap km
BLM Auto. Wira SE saya pun auto jugak, 3 speeder lagi. Full tank 50l boleh pergi 500km kalau travel highway. Kalau jalan biasa 400++km
BLM 40l boleh pegi 300km je. Tu yang heran tu. Mungkin muatan banyak sangat (penuh bonet dengan susu anak, pampers, 3 biji beg)
may be betul juga lot auto kuat makan minyak.
tetapi dari sumber yg boleh dipercayai, saga manual 1.3 tempoh perjalanan dari rawang ke pekan kroh (pengkalan hulu) perak kelajuan malar 110km,melaluii exit kuala kangsar > grik > felda lepang nenering jarak sekitar 330km hanya guna RM30 ron 95 petronas.
dia ni servis di proton edar ikut schedule. keta dah 2 taun lebih. katanya dah tukar IAFM sbb bunyi dia mcm motobot.
jika dicongak2 lebih jimat dari kancil manual 850 kerana rm30 =15.79liter.
dimana 1 km dpt g sejauh 20.90km
FC > 100km / 20.9 =4.785
iaitu perlukan 4.785 liter utk sejauh 100km bersamaan 9.09sen utk setiap 1 km.

Mungkin sebab auto kot.. Takpun muatan banyak rasanya.. Kalau muatan tak banyak mungkin save balik ikut highway raya baru ni.. Bukan apa, ni first time try highway, sebelum ni naik wira je..
Tapi kalau pemanduan dalam bandar memang BLM ni minyak agak kuat.. Tapi apapun penggunaan minyak ni subjektif, apa yang penting keselesaan betul tak bro nsr?

anyway aku lebih suke perodua..proton kualiti x der..asyik rosak jer..so far aku gune myvi ok jer..proton tingkat kan kualiti dan rekebentuk kereta..sory kurang menarik la saga ker,perona ker,,muke same je..persona like gen2..adoyai…

Saya pula rasa kereta Perodua sama aje, baik MYVI, Alza (MYVI panjang) dan Viva (MYVI kecik), hanya 3 model. Di rumah saya ada Gen 2, Waja, Saga dan Savvy, semua lain rupanya, belum lagi model-model lain seperti Satria Neo dan Exora dan akan datang Tuah serta Emas, semua bentuk lain. Salam. Saya nak pertikaikan Jimi. Memanglah Gen2 dan Persona tu hampir sama, sama macam Wira dan Wira Aeroback sebab Persona tu Gen2 sedan di UK. Banyak kereta yang bentuk pelbagai dari asas yg sama spt Ford Focus (sedan dan aeroback), Peogeut 207 sedan dan hatchback, VW Golf dan Jetta, VW Polo sedan dan hatchback, suzuki swift sedan dan hatchback, BMW dan Merc yg ada sedan dan coupe, hampir semua buat begitu…. jadi tak hairanlah kalau ada persamaan Gen 2 dan Persona.

steering nye bagus.. RINGAN and ade EPS.. kalo kite speed.. dlm 80km keatas… steering nye electric system tu berfungsi…. so xper pegang2 steering dgn kuat tym speeding mcm myvi lame.. keselesaan tu krg dari saga… walopon seat myvi ni cantik skit dari saga… tapi keras la.. drive jauh.. saket pinggang aku…
pastu kalo langgar lubang terase.. ade kwn aku ckp.. absorber keras. tu sbb langgar lubang terasa… (aku blur sbb xterror) hik3…

Lieza, memang menyala pun suis bentuk dot tu masa lepas kunci. die berkelip2 kan. kalo time drive die berkelip maknanya sebelum tu kita ada tekan panic button kat kunci tu sampai alarm berbunyi. lepas tu x reset balik, tu yg die bernyala je..
dari segi selesa, memang BLM la.. Myvi ni org selalu beli utk 2nd car utk bini ke bwk anak antar sekolah g pasar short distance. compact senang drive mana2 menyelit.
Apapun kita rakyat Malaysia beruntung kerana ada kereta Nasional…

setakat ini BLM xde masalah langsung…cuma 1 kunci je jatuh dlm toilet petronas…tggl 1..dh tmpah br. Myk hitam pkai SUMO 5W-40 Fully synthetic…myk gear (ATF pun SUMO fully synthetic)…sgt puas hati..kereta dh make up, tkar bumper depan, skirting tepi dan belakabg…rim 15″ 195/50/15…Handling mmg best..thanks Lotus. y pntg utamakan maintenance….
FYI, lepas 3X servis kt EON..saya trus hntar kat mekanik luar (mmg blh dpercayai)…

MyVi pula, cuma ada masalah power window kt front left and both rear door…kereta ni isteri pakai wt keje je..myk mmg jimat…dulu pernah tukar mounting absorber depan (both). pastu skrg OK…myk hitam pkai Semi-synthetic dr Shell…auto gear toyota pnya…
..kereta ok…pickup dan speed kurg mgkin sjak bli isteri x pernah bwk laju kot. kete standard je.

SERVIS mYVI (sama di atas) = RM 118.

Saga FLX jauh lebih baik, boot besar, selamat dan suspension baik untuk pelbagai jenis jalanraya. Nak balik kampong, macam macam boleh isi.
FLX ngan blm samer jer…tapi dari segi enjin flx teruk…
amin: flx enjin teruk? apa yg teruk?
FLX tak sama dgn Saga blm da. FLX auto ada gear CVT yg hanya ada pd kereta yg lebih mahal. IAFM dah upgrade ke IAFM plus yg lebih eficient. Suspension pun dah lebih baik. Yg executive ada ABS dan EDB. Mana ada sama, malah bertambah baik dan value for money. Proton truly a Malaysian and ASEAN car manufacturer.

Masa aku mula2 nk pkai keta auto dulu semua member ckp jgn, sbb auto xde pickup la, ssh nk overtake la. Tp atas keperluan aku pakai gk. 2 bulan aku bljr optimize gear auto. Pastu aku saje ajak member yg ckp jgn pakai auto tu naik dgn aku, aku rembat cukup2. Terus diam, turun keta ckp ‘aku ingat gear auto takleh tukar2 gear, boleh rupenye ek. Kuat gk pickup’.
taun 2005 aku pernah guna myvi …. lepas kawan2 yg biasa layan vvt ajar aku cara nk layan throttle pada tiap2 gear utk optimise penggunaan vvt …. baru aku tau kekuatan enjin dan sistem tsb …..
tp ada jugak org beli kete sbb nk spec yg paling tinggi cthnya paddle shifter/auto cruise/keyless entry/dll padahal dia pun tak tau apa benda tu dan sampai jual semula .. equipment2 tsb tak pernah digunakan ….
yeah.. tepat sekali. vvt mmg boleh jimat minyak tapi maintain power. aku dh pakai vios. skrg pakai myvi. so far mileage myvi aku cantik jer, maintain 15-16km/L. drive pegi balik keje tiap hari rembat 90km/h-100km/h.
aku lagi selesa guna benda yg proven practical, dari benda2 yg high-tech tapi memeningkan kepala

kelajuan bawah 110km/h hiway: vios 18km/L, myvi 18km/L
kelajuan 120-130km/h hiway: vios 16km/L, myvi 15km/L
town driving speed 80-90km/h: vios 16km/L, myvi 16km/L
perbandingan ni utk vios 1.5 tahun 2006 vs myvi 1.3 tahun 2010. bagi aku lebih kurang jer, bezanye bila kelajuan lebih 120km/h, vios jimat sikit dan pickup masih senang nak tarik, myvi 120km/h ke atas dah tak dpt tarik pick up kuat, harap lajak je la.
vios aku dulu full tank sampai berkelip selalu aku dpt 550-600km. myvi aku selalu dpt 500-530km. ni kalo masa kaki ringan la. time kaki lekat kat lantai full tank vios 360km je. myvi tak pernah try la camtu, sbb tak best dh nk bawah lebih 130km/h.
Service, lebih kurang jer kos kalo service kat SC, sbb perodua milik daihatsu yg dimiliki toyota, service charge, labour cost semua sama, beza kat harga parts tak byk pun, total tiap kali service beza dlm RM20-RM30 je.
Gua..pakai flx..white colour.. 1.3 manual.. compare dgn wira aeroback jauh lebih selesa utk saga flx..
Utk kelajuan dan enjin flx jauh lebih bagus dr wira… utk speeding pun flx win. kenapa ada pendapat enjin flx teruk.. mungkin dia pakai saga blm kot envy sbb.. flx lebih bergaya dan bagus…hehehe

SAVVY saya tahun 2005 masih bagus, Gen 1.3 (A) emak 2005 masih bagus, Waja abah manual 2006 masih bagus, adik saga 2008 masih bagus berbanding dgn MYVI sepupu 2005 dan pak cik MYVI 2008, tak bagus, goncang sana sini dan handling hampeh.
aku slalu isi RM50 dapat pegi 380km city+hway ( 14.44 km/L) bawa
penah aku bwa dr klia – ipoh maintain 150km/j n kadang 170-180km/j sejam stngah aku buat pasang a/cond minyak rm35-40/260km
(lebih kurang 21.05L/260km >> 12.35km/L kira ok la jimat sbb aku bawa laju 160 – 180km/j)
salam semua..sy tertarik nk bg komen sbb skrg sya pakai kete flx manual putih..ok je rasenye..minyak pun bleh tahan la..performance engin pun boleh tahan..pernah test pick up ng sentra 1.6 n owner sentra tu terkejut bila sya kobar an kek dio yg kete sya hnya 1.3..tp memang betul ape yg penting maintainance kene ikut mileage/tempoh.(sebab pernah tengok kete ferrari tersadai kat plus…hehehehehe…
Selalunya kalau 1st car memang orang amik saga. Kalau 2nd car nak pakai keta lain baik amik myvi.
