Lamborghini had introduced another model of Gallardo in the market, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2. Want to know what that means? The 550 means the engine produces 550 hp and the number 2 indicates that the car is driven by 2 wheel, the rear wheel to be exact, and yes, only two rather than four wheel drive found in most Lamborghini.
The LP550-2 also wears a tag for Valentino Balboni, Lamborghini’s retired test driver who helped define the brand’s handling characteristics since 1973, and acts as an ambassador for the brand.
Lamborghini said that the conversion from all-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive only was not simply a question of moving the transmission to the rear axle as the vehicle had to be thoroughly adjusted and tuned. The company’s engineers performed changes on the supercar ‘s springs, dampers, stabilizers and the tyres as well as adjusting the aerodynamics to take account of the change to the power flow.
Other changes concern the redevelopment of the rear axle differential, with a 45 percent limited slip, the recalibration of the e-gear transmission and a series of adjustment to the ESP system which now permits greater drift angles.
As for the exterior, the Gallardo is painted in Metallic Gold white a white racing strip from its front to the back of the car and the the brake callipers comes in black, orange or yellow, depending on the exterior paint finish.Inside, white leather and new badging are fitted, along with a rearview camera, a navigaiton system and Bluetooth connectivity.
