NAZA GETS OFF TO A GOOD START
THE Naza group, which distributes vehicles under brands like Kia, Peugeot, Mazda, Brabus and Porsche in Malaysia, saw car sales increase 20 per cent in the first four months compared with a year ago.
Its executive chairman and chief executive officer SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin attributed the higher sales to the increased efforts of subsidiaries Naza Kia Sdn Bhd, Naza Corp Sdn Bhd and Nasim Sdn Bhd.
In a statement released yesterday in Kuala Lumpur, Naza said that its 1.4-litre 206 Bestari compact car has accounted for one-fifth of its locally assembled passenger car sales so far this year.
The Bestari saw sales of 1,124 units, second only to the Citra 2-litre multi-purpose vehicle which turned in sales of 1,560 units.
“Newly introduced limited volume models like the Peugeot 207CC and 308GT also attracted lots of new customers, who were interested in new value European styling, handling and performance,” SM Nasarudin said.
“We believe this reflects the reality that there are customers with stable careers and finances who understand and appreciate the good products, value and packages we offer. Not to mention our nationwide network of showrooms and after-sales centres backed by our toll-free customer service support.”
The group plans to introduce more car models in the country this year.
“At the same time, we will enhance our sales and service network nation-wide.
“With the TD Forte, XM, AM Soul and other new models coming in, we are confident of hitting the sales targets set for this year,” SM Nasarudin added.
