The car featured here is the possible replacement of the current Toyota MR2 (called as MRS in some countries). There is no official information on the replacement but by the look of it, they may be replacing current MR2 to compete with the upcoming Honda CR-Z.
If it is true, the MRS will be powered by a hybrid drivetrain developed from the most succesful hybrid car, the Toyota Prius. The article from the magazine includes an an artist’s impression on how the MR-S could like. Judging by the air-inlets at the back, the proposed MR-S most likely features a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout.
If the rumours is true, the MR-S would be a much more sportier car than the front wheel drive Honda CR-Z. And come to think of it. Its quite possible for Toyota to produce the replacement model as a smaller sports car than the FT-86.
But anyhow, it still a rumours and we’ll try to dig out as much as possible on the actual news.
