London decides to replace its classic cab with the new black cab with special features based from New Nissan NV200 as the new london taxi.

Already unveiled as an official new cab for Tokyo and the exclusive New York City ‘Taxi of Tomorrow’, the new cab will pick up their first fares on London’s streets in Spring 2014.Currently there are only two alternatives for London’s 22,600 cab drivers, the traditional ‘LTI TX4 and the Mercedes Vito. The NV200 will generate 50% less CO2 than the best current taxi model (139g/km vs 209g/km) — in line with Mayor Boris Johnson’s Air Quality Strategy for London. 

Even more importantly the harmful NOx (nitrogen oxide) and PM (particulate) gases will reduce significantly in line with TfL’s and GLA’s targets. NOx emissions will come down from 0.50g/km to 0.14g/km, important when 10% of Greater London’s NOx emissions come from black cabs, while PM emissions, which account for 20% of central London’s airborne pollution, will come down from 0.056g/km to 0.001g/km.The NV200 will also be 50% more fuel efficient than the best current alternative, its 1.5 litre engine achieving 53.3 mpg (miles per gallon) versus 35.3mpg.

The average London cab travels 120 miles a day, so it will see cabbies save almost £700 a year.The NV200 will also be priced very competitively and significantly below the current equivalent, the London Taxi Company’s new TX4 model.It will comfortably seat five adults — three on a rear bench with two on rear-facing, fold-down seats. All will be able to admire the London skyline through the 1.2m2 transparent roof.

Its sliding doors are much safer for pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles because they do not swing out to create a potential obstruction.The eNV200 – London’s first electric taxi – is expected to hit London’s streets in 2014 too. With running costs estimated to be around one fifth of a conventional, diesel-powered Hackney Carriage, its launch will arrive six years ahead of the Mayor’s target of 2020 for the introduction of a zero emissions taxi.

The Nissan NV200 is a light commercial vehicle produced by Nissan. It was first shown as the NV200 Concept at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. Though it is an alternative to the Vanette, it is only available as a van model. “NV” stands for New generation Vehicle, or sometimes “New Vanette” by fans.   It was launched in Japan as Nissan NV200 Vanette on May 21, 2009, and in Europe in autumn 2009. In April 2010, it was named the Professional Van and Light Truck Magazine Van of the Year 2010. In China, NV200 is built by Nissan in partnership with Dongfeng Motor, and is released in June 2010.An electric vehicle based on NV200 will also be released.   The NV200 was one of three finalists (alongside the Karsan V-1 and Ford Transit Connect) for New York City’s Taxi of Tomorrow. The Nissan was announced as the winner in May 2011 and is expected to be awarded a 10-year contract to provide the city exclusively with some 13,000 yellow cabs, starting in 2013.[8][9] A fully electric version of the Nissan NV200 may be available by 2017 for the NYC Taxi fleet.The European version with the 1.5L diesel gets 54.4 averaged mpg however the American version will be much less. The American version will be built in Mexico and powered by a 2.0L gasoline engine and has been rated at 25mpg.

Menyedari permintaan pelanggan terhadap kenderaan komersial semakin bertambah, Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) memperkenalkan dua model kenderaan komersial ringan; Vanette NV200 dan Navara Single Cab 4×2.   Vanette NV200 mempunyai reka benuk berbeza berbanding model Vanette sebelum ini dan mampu menjana 107hp kuasa kuda dan 152Nm tork melalui enjin 1.6-liter HR16DE bersama teknologi Pemasaan Injap Boleh Ubah Berterusan (CVTC) yang digunakan.   Dipadankan dengan transmisi lima kelajuan, NV200 mencatat penggunaan bahan api 14km/l dan dilengkapi sistem keselamatan termasuk beg udara, ABS, EBD dan Binaan Zon Badan (ZBC). Dengan penggunaan spring dedaun (spring leaf), ia mampu menampung berat sehingga 740 kilogram.

Nissan Navara is the name for the D22 and D40 generations of Nissan pickup trucks sold in Asia while in the North, Central and South America and the Philippines it is sold as Nissan Frontier. The line was started in 1998, and its immediate predecessor is the D21 Nissan Hardbody truck. As of 2002, the D22 series Nissan Truck is no longer sold in Japan, with the primary market having been relocated to North America. It is now built at the Smyrna, Tennessee Nissan factory.

Nissan was the pioneer of the “Hardbody” or “Nissan Frontier” since 1986. The first was the D21, considered to be a small pick up. After more than 10 years with the D21, the second generation Navara was manufactured from 1998 and went until 2005 which was classed as a compact sized pick up. It was replaced with the bigger, taller, longer D40, which Nissan now considers to be a mid-size pick up truck.   The Navara gets its name from the Navarre region of northern Spain, and the European version is built at the Nissan factory in Barcelona.

Nissan bring us the mobile office concept car – NV200 Concept from the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. The NV200 concept features substantial and rugged-looking exterior with a traditional box-like storage space in the rear. The customizable cargo area houses a unique pod that can smartly accommodate a variety of business needs. The pod is divided into customizable trays and boxes for efficient storage of profession-specific equipment, materials, work gear and apparel. The displayed NV200 has been outfitted specifically for use by a professional ocean photographer. The work area is equipped with a remote control panel for a spider camera, as well as equipment for organizing and editing photographs and images while on assignment.

Nissan’s NV200 concept van was one of the undoubted stars of the Hanover Show – and designer Ryoichi Kuraoka found an unlikely inspiration for its innovative demountable pod system. “It’s based on Thunderbird 2, the one with the pod,” he said.
The inspiration isn’t recent either. Kuraoka has been with Nissan since 1981 – his CV includes the 1992 Micra hatchback – and he’s been a original fan of the British puppet sci-fi series since the 1960s, when he saw episodes on Japanese TV as a boy. “I had the Tracey Island model too,” he said.

Sadly, cost rules out putting into production the ‘pod’ body of the concept, which slides out on rails and is supported by fold-down legs. But the NV200 will become a production reality early next year, when it replaces the Renault Kangoo-based Kubistar compact van in the Nissan range. It’ll go on sale first in Japan next Spring, with European sales before the end of 2009.

It’ll be called NV200 too, as part of a new branding philosophy for the Nissan LCV range, which was quietly introduced with the NP300 pick-up (NP means Nissan Pick-up; NV Nissan Van, logically!)

NV200 has been designed to appeal to a wider global market. For example, the European-designed Kubistar was too large for Japanese market tax breaks, so the NV200 is slightly smaller, based on the Alliance B platform (Clio/Micra) rather than the C platform (Scenic/Kangoo). It meets Japanese size restrictions – 1.7m wide and 1.85m high – but it can still take two Europallets.
