Saya ada sebuah kereta perodua kelisa model auto 2005 beli second hand pada tahun lepas. Masalahnya kereta ni kurang pick up, kalau tekan minyak mengaum jer enjin tapi keretanya lembap. satau lagi maksimum kelajuan pun dalam 12o – 130 jer. Apa sebenarnya masalah dan bagaimana nak settle masalah ni? Tolongggg….

KDI: Getting a used car has a lot of things to do after you buy. You need to service it with new engine oil, new air filter, oil filter, clean the throttle body, use new coolant. If possible, send it to your trusted mechanic to do overall inspection.

For those who experience less pickup problem and really needs extra performance, you can do basic performance modification. The performance upgrade may include open pod air filters such as K&N, Apexi or HKS for better air flow into combustion chamber. Instead of air intake, you can modify your exhaust system, use semi synthetic or fully synthetic engine oil, use voltage stabilizer.

To get maximum performance, a heavy modification needs to be done. You can install lighten cam pulley, crank pulley, use high cam shaft, modifiy engine internal parts or install a turbo kit.

Here i would like to share useful info regarding basic car maintenance (asas penjagaan kereta dan baikpulih) which is very important for us as car owner. I know that many of us take for granted of this matter. What they know after buying a car is only fill up fuel and service their car periodically and the worst case, some of us did not even care about the periodic service (waktu servis kereta berjadual).

So, here are the lists of what to do and what you really need to do. If there is any missing tips, please share in the comment section so we can discuss and help others.

Basic car service at manufacturer authorised service center

- 1st 1000km after you get your car – Don’t drag until more than 1500km. Send your car to service center immediately.

- Minor service every 5000km if you use mineral base engine oil or every 7000-8000km if you use semi synthetic or every 10000km if you use fully synthetic engine oil. Depends on the car. Some car can use semi synthetic up to 10000km. Please refer manual handbook of your car together with the service booklet.

- Major service = minor service + change gearbox transmission oil and other inspection and replacement if needed. Usually Auto transmission car need to change every 30k km to 40k km while manual transmission every 40k which is longer time. This is important especially for auto transmission as the gearbox is very sensitive and needs oil replacement more frequently.

Car Self service / monitoring for basic car maintenance :

- Radiator coolant fluid level (cecair penyejuk radiator enjin) – Check frequently at least once a month. Refill with special coloured (ie. red, green) coolant fluid or with distilled water if the fluid level go down below full. Check also coolant existance at the radiator cap.

- Engine oil level (minyak enjin) – Take out the dipstick oil level and check the level when your engine is not running. Make sure it is near full. If not, it must have some leaking there or you already exceed the service mileage. The engine oil dipstick handle colour usually in yellow or orange.

Message :Perbezaan antara Exora 2009 dan 2010.
 
Salam semua,Perbezaan yang saya rasa ketara ialah gear shift antara gear 1 dan dua,Exora 09 gear 1 ke gear dua lambat sedikit tetapi berlainan pula untuk model 2010 februari keatas khususnya untuk model auto.Mungkinkah pihak Proton telah fine tune gearbox selepas berapa pandangan dan pendapat dari Exora owner yang awal?

Saya sungguh teruja ngan perubahan ini walaupun kecil.Penjimatan bahan api saya berbeza sedikit daripada ibu mentua punya Exora 09 walaupun dibawa pada kelajuan yang sama dan jarak yang sama. Exora ibu mentua mencatatkan 8.3litre/100km menggunakan minyak enjin 10W-40 pada kelajuan 90kmh. Exora saya pula 7.8litre/100km masih menggunakan minyak enjin kilang!

KDI TEST & REVIEW – USING COOKING OIL AS ENGINE OIL

 This practice has been introduced a long time ago. Here, I would like to share our test result and review about using cooking oil as car engine oil. This test carried out starting on 22/05/2010 with 80805km on the distance meter on a our victim “specimen” Perodua Kancil 660 carburetor 3 cylinder engine standard specification.

After a little research and testimony from other people that use cooking oil including Mr Nasrul Fareed from Egas who use cooking oil in his Nissan Terrano and KDI Editor Iz using cooking oil in his Kancil, I am confident to start doing the test safely.

Iz using a Vesawit brand of cooking oil. According to Iz, the engine is smoother which contribute to more performance and fuel efficient. Now, Iz already use it for more than 10,000km without any problem. He always check the quantity of engine oil and found that the oil still clean unlike normal engine oil that tends to be black in colour.

While Mr Nasrul use Minyak Masak Cap Buruh in his Nissan Terrano. He said that the use of cooking oil is actually not much different as using a fully synthetic engine oil. No problem using in a car more than 2000 cc.

Now I put in the Minyak Masak Seri Murni “Sungguh Suci Sungguh Murni =)” from 2kg bottle which cost only RM6.25. It fills kancil 660 engine just enough to “F” mark with only 2kg of the cooking oil. Which means around 3 litre (when buying the oil I dont know how to determine how many litre in 2kg of oil. well actually i didnt know the Specific Gravity of that oil. so I bought 2 bottle of 2kg oil.. another extra i will use to make goreng pisang.. haha)

After changing to cooking oil as engine oil, this is the result:
- Very obvious performance increased which is more pickup than before
- Engine runs smoothly
- White vapour comes out from exhaust which means more efficient combustion

I will update all info regarding the test from time to time. For the time being, the car angine is good.
