2013 SUBARU XV CROSSTREK

Subaru of America, announced that it is expanding its line of award-winning crossover-type vehicles with the all-new 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek, which debuted at the 2012 New York International Auto Show. The versatile, fun to drive Subaru XV Crosstrek, which arrives in fall 2012, combines bold five-door design with an expanded-capability chassis, high fuel economy and everyday comfort.

Subaru based the new Subaru XV Crosstrek on the Impreza platform, making significant changes to the chassis and body and configuring interior standard equipment and options specifically for this new model. All 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek models are powered by a 148-horsepower 2.0-liter BOXER engine, teamed to Symmetrical All- Wheel Drive via a five-speed manual transmission or available second-generation Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

Compared to the Subaru Impreza five-door model it is based on, the 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek incorporates numerous body and chassis enhancements for its expandedcapability mission. Black side and wheel arch cladding, rocker spoiler and roof rails provide a rugged contrast to the body color. The higher ride height, roof spoiler and unique design 17-inch wheels bolster the Subaru XV Crosstrek model’s go-anywhere stance and attitude. Front and rear bumpers and the front grille are unique to the Subaru XV Crosstrek, and dark-tint privacy glass is standard.

The standard five-speed manual transmission includes the Subaru Incline Start Assist feature, which will briefly hold the vehicle while the driver coordinates brake and clutch to pull away from a stop on a hill. Available for the Subaru XV Crosstrek Premium models and standard on the Limited trim line the Subaru Lineartronic CVT provides infinite variability between the highest and lowest available ratios with no discernable steps or shifts.

Standard on the Limited and available for the Premium, the All-Weather Package gives the Subaru XV Crosstrek heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors and a windshield wiper de-icer. Both the Subaru XV Crosstrek Premium and Limited offer a power moonroof and a navigation system as available options. The navigation system uses a 6.1-inch touch screen LCD display and integrates a rear-vision camera, voice control, iTunes tagging, SMS text messaging capability, XM Satellite Radio and XM NavTraffic.Updated map data can be downloaded to a personal computer and then transferred into the system via secure digital (SD) card.

2013 DODGE RAM 1500

The new 2013 Ram 1500 is the latest innovation off Ram’s full-size, body on frame truck architecture, designed, engineered and executed to strike at the emotional chords of the “Guts and Glory” mindset of enthusiasts and potential buyers. In form and function, the new 2013 Ram 1500 conveys boldness, valor, virtue and power-oriented capability like no other in its class, but it does so, aesthetically and functionally, at a different level.

The new 2013 Ram 1500 will offer the most fuel-efficient model in its class, and more available functional, innovative and interactive technologies than the competition. The new truck will have capability on par with or better than anything in its class and more quality-validated than anything in it class.

Major changes under the hood of the new 2013 Ram 1500 will help deliver best in class fuel economy and substantial increases in power and performance with the Chrysler Group’s award-winning Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 engine coupled with the first use of an eight-speed TorqueFlite 8 transmission in a pickup truck. The 5.7-liter HEMI also will benefit with the first use of an eight-speed automatic transmission. The new, TorqueFlite 8 is available with the V-8 engine and features a higher capacity torque converter and is scheduled for availability in late 2012.

The 2013 Ram 1500 uses a newly designed frame with improved, low-torsion (stiffness) attributes that increase stability and handling precision while decreasing noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) up to 30 percent, depending on drive cycle. Front rails feature 20 percent increased yield strength from the use of high-strength steel. Among other features, the new frame design incorporates new powertrain, new air suspension and new body mounting technology.

The classic Ram crosshair horizontal and vertical grille bars are now flush at the top and bottom of the grille surround. The bars themselves are more sculpted and artfully cross in the middle to create a perfect location for an updated interpretation of the Ram badge, which now incorporates sculpted bevels around the shield.

2013 HONDA CROSSTOUR CONCEPT

Honda unveiled the 2013 Crosstour Concept at the 2012 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), providing the first official glimpse of a more capable-looking exterior styling direction for the luxurious mid-size CUV. Set to go on sale in fall 2012, the Crosstour’s defined lines will resonate more clearly with the active consumers that form the largest portion of the premium crossover segment. The 2013 Crosstour V6 will feature improved fuel economy thanks to its new 6-speed automatic transmission, while both four-cylinder and V6 versions will benefit from a host of safety and visibility upgrades.

The Honda Crosstour Concept features a more capable, SUV-like styling direction for Honda’s mid-size crossover. A more aggressive and athletic front end, new contrasting moldings on the lower door garnish, and cleaner front and rear fascias anchored by the rugged look of finished sill plates provide more visual strength to the Crosstour Concept. Adding to the SUV-like stance, a new rear-fender finish helps give the Concept a more solidly planted appearance.

 

The Crosstour will offer two powertrains for the 2013 model year, a re-engineered and more powerful 3.5-liter, 24-valve, SOHC, i-VTEC V6 engine, or a 2.4-liter i-VTEC inline four-cylinder engine. The 2013 Crosstour V6 models will feature a 6-speed automatic transmission and utilize Honda Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) technology to achieve class leading V6 fuel economy along with an overall improvement in fuel economy compared to the outgoing model. Also available on Crosstour EX-L V6 models is Honda’s Real Time 4WDTM system, which sends power to all four wheels when front-wheel slippage is detected. The four-cylinder Crosstour models are powered by a 2.4-liter, 16-valve DOHC i-VTEC engine producing 192 horsepower at 7,000 RPM and 162 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 RPM. To maximize efficiency, a 5-speed automatic transmission with Grade Logic Control is standard equipment.

The 2013 Crosstour will introduce numerous new safety features, and is targeted to earn top scores in the federal government’s New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). The next Crosstour will be available with Honda’s Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Forward Collision Warning (FCW) technology. Both systems use a camera mounted behind the windshield to alert drivers if the car is moving unexpectedly out of its lane or to warn drivers of a potential collision in front of them.

2013 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER

Chevrolet Trailblazer, the brand’s tough new “haul-anything, go-anywhere” SUV, made its world debut at a special event ahead of the 2012 Bangkok International Motor Show in Thailand. First previewed in concept form at the 2011 Dubai International Motor Show in the Middle East, the Chevrolet Trailblazer will go on sale around the world, beginning with Thailand in June 2012.

Based on General Motors’ new global body-on-frame midsize truck architecture, the Trailblazer was designed to feature premium ride comfort and handling dynamics for urban and highway driving, matched by superior off-road capabilities. Inside, the all-new Chevrolet Trailblazer features leading interior space and intuitive three-row tumble and fold-flat seating, representing Chevrolet’s most significant play in the competitive body-on-frame midsize SUV segment.

Available in two- and four wheel drive configurations, the Trailblazer is powered by GM’s new four-cylinder Duramax turbo-diesel engines that offer class-leading power and torque matched with efficiency and refinement. Designed for family transport and urban commuting, the Chevrolet Trailblazer is equally at home negotiating off-road terrain as it is with urban traffic and highway cruising.

The Trailblazer will be powered by GM’s all-new family of Duramax four-cylinder turbo-diesel engines, featuring 2.5L and 2.8L displacements. The engines incorporate a host of technologies aimed at delivering an optimal balance of power, performance and fuel economy. The range-topping 2.8L variant features a variable-geometry turbocharger for optimal power and efficiency across the engine’s revolution band, and a balancer-shaft for greater smoothness. Both engines feature components designed to last for 240,000 kilometers, enhancing durability and reliability while contributing to lower cost of ownership.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer’s foundation for both its on and off road capabilities is its robust body-on-frame architecture. With the support of an independent five-link rear suspension, a feature found in more upmarket, premium SUVs, the Trailblazer displays none of the typical characteristics of conventional body-on-frame SUVs. In fact, it enjoys a combination of best-in-class luxurious ride and responsiveness. The use of coil springs throughout also provides the Trailblazer with better suspension articulation, a useful trait in off-road conditions, in addition to providing passenger car-like handling dynamics on the road.
