EXORA 1.6 CPS + 1.6 CFE ACCELERATION 0-100KMH, TEST DRIVE

Here we share the acceleration test done by KDI for Exora CFE turbo 1.6 with CVT gearbox and Exora CPS 1.6 manual. The results of 0-100km/h test is between 13-14 seconds. Quite hard to get exact numbers for Exora CPS manual due to the slightly hard gear changing needed but for Exora Turbo with CFE and CVT, you don’t really feels it accelerate and feel less pickup but it is actually have good acceleration and the result is, it is faster than Exora manual 1.6 CPS.

EXORA 1.6 CPS + 1.6 CFE ACCELERATION 0-100KMH, TEST DRIVE

There are a lot of improvements from Exora CPS to Exora CFE. Especially the engine, the ride the exterior and the interior. Acceleration from 0-100km/h, we nearly does not feel any acceleration due to the efficiency of CVT gearbox adjusting the gear to the most optimum power output at the same time gives a very comfortable and smooth ride. A far and a lot better than most of cars under RM100k in terms of comfortable ride.

The CFE 1.6 litre turbocharged engine produces very nice turbo sounds and you can hear it at around 80km/h and the power kicks in at near 2000RPM. But the ECU limits the RPM at around RPM5000+ to take care of the CVT gearbox from a hard acceleration and to prevent any engine damage due to high boost of turbocharged.

Different with 1.6 CPS manual where you can hit the pedal up to 7400 RPM very high rev and you can really feel the acceleration. The fuel consumption of Exora manual is around 9L/100km while it is stated at the odometer of Exora CFE around 12L/100km and this may be due to the hard drive by customer who test drove the car.

According to the spec, it can give around 7L/100km which is very fuel efficient for that big size of MPV which produce a good torque curves of 205Nm. It depends on how you drive it, you can save fuel via light foot drive mode or you can get the maximum power anytime you want by just hitting the pedal.

According to the picture of p3-21a interior above, we can see that the steering wheel has the same identity as exora’s steering. The dashboard panel is a bit like Proton Inspira. It is like a combination of both Exora and Inspira.

According to the sales person, this p3-21a will have a lot of extra features like Keyless Push start Button, Light Sensor, Rain Sensor, Build-in GPS, front LED light. The engine will have 2 variant which is CFE charge fuel efficient 1.6L turbo with 7 speed CVT gearbox plus paddle shift and the 1.6L IAFM+ with 6 speed CVT gearbox. Watch out! A hot sedan will be coming your way!

Selepas pulang dari ‘Proton Sales Conference & Introductions P3-21A’ yang disampaikan oleh DSZ sebentar tadi, saya berasa begitu tidak sabar untuk mengulas sedikit sebanyak tentang produk terbaru proton iaitu P3-21A yg bakal dilancakan pada akhir suku pertama tahun ini, iaitu March 2012.

Apa yang saya dapat lihat dan ingin dikongsikan mengenai produk ini selepas saya dapat menyaksikan sendiri secara ‘live’ di depan mata buat kali pertamanya, P3-21A merupakan model yang bakal menjawab segala kritikan dan pandangan yang telah diberikan oleh seluruh rakyat Malaysia kepada Proton, secara tak langsung membuktikan DSZ telah mendengar dan membaca komen-komen, idea dan pandangan anda semua di blog-blog automitive negara mahupun di tempat-tempat lain. segala ‘features & functions’ yang kita semua mahukan, hampir semuanya ada di dalam P3-21A ini, meyakinkan lagi P3-21A ini mampu bersaing menjadi produk global.

Suka untuk saya jelaskan, bukan mudah untuk memuaskan hati semua pihak. Setibanya waktu P3-21A ini dilancarkan March nanti, pastinya masih ada suara-suara yang akan terus mengkritik lagi dan lagi. Tidak menjadi rahsia lagi, majoriti citarasa pengguna di Malaysia ini lebih kearah rekabentuk ‘Japanese/Korean’. Tak salah.. Tetapi yang sukarnya di sini, P3-21A ini bukan sahaja mahu memenuhi citarasa pengguna di Malaysia, malah juga di 28 buah negara lain yang bakal dipasarkan dan citarasa kesemua pengguna di 28 buah negara ini berbeza-beza dan pastinya setiap keputusan yang diambil dalam pembinaan P3-21A ini memerlukan keputusan teliti dan ‘collective decisions’.

Yang pertama, bab ciri keselamatan, P3-21A mempunyai NCAP 5 Star rating, yang pastinya memberikan kelebihan ketara kepada pesaing-pesaing terdekatnya terutama Vios & City. Rangkanya lebih kukuh dan selamat serta mempunyai Airbag depan dan sisi. Ia juga merupakan kereta yang paling selamat di Malaysia jika diletakkan dalam segmennya, kerana ciri pemanduan ‘Lotus Ride & Handling’ yang amat stabil & menggunakan ‘Multilink rear suspension’ yang tiada dalam pesaing-pesaingnya seperti Vios, City, Forte, mahupun Corolla Altis, bak kata DSZ “guarantee best handling in it’s class”. Ciri-ciri keselamatan lain yang dilengkapi P3-21A ini adalah ABS & EBD with 4 wheels Disc Brake dan satu lagi ciri keselamatan terbaru diperkenalkan iaitu ESC (lebih kurang mcm VSA-Vehicle Stablity Assist).

Bab aksoseri pula, kereta ini dilengkapi dengan Keyless Push start Button, Light Sensor, Rain Sensor, Build-in GPS, front LED light untuk pemanduan waktu siang seperti Audi, ruang boot yang amat besar, lebih kurang besarnya seperti ruang boot Persona Elegance, menggunakan spotrim 16″ inci dan lebar tayar saiz 205, logo badge proton yang diletakkan di bahagian depan dan belakang lebih besar menampakan kereta lebih gah dan pelbagai lagi.

Bab performance pula, variant teratas P3-21A akan menggunakan enjin Campro 1.6L CFE dengan 7-speed gearbox CVT, 140PS/205 torque. Wowww!!! dan tak lupa ia juga dilengkapi dengan Paddle shift steering, dan sport mode +/- di gear column seperti Inspira 1.8CVT dan 2.0CVT. Bagi variant pertengahan dan bawah, engine yang digunakan ialah Campro 1.6L IAFM+ dengan gearbox CVT 6-speed.

Akhir Sekali bab finishing, bab ni ramai yang musykil dan bimbang, terutamanya mengenai badge Proton di Steering. Jadi komentar-komentar di blog funtasticko, paultan dan lain-lain tak perlu lagi bimbang, kerana badge proton warna hitam-putih (sama seperti badge di bumper depan) disertakan lining chrome nipis disekelilingnya ada diletakkan di steering P3-21A ini. Steeringnya pula menggunakan steering Exora, tetapi ada sedikit ‘design improvement’ di bahagian ‘Audio switch control’ sekaligus menampakkan steeringnya lebih kemas, kompak dan elegan. Dashbord & door trim pula menggunakan soft material seperti Wira, bukan keras seperti Persona, Saga, Exora & Satria Neo.

Banyak lagi yang boleh diulaskan mengenai P3-21A ini. Tetapi biarlah yang selebihnya dirahsiakan sehingga hari perlancaran nanti. Rumusan saya design P3-21A ini ‘Clean & Simple’. Tiada geometri-geometri ‘futuristik’ yang keterlaluan ditonjolkan seperti yang selalu digunakan oleh Kia, Hyundai & Honda. Sebaliknya ia lebih banyak menggunakan ‘safe & long lasting design’ seperti BMW, Audi & toyota.

Apa pun Tahniah diucapkan kepada DSZ, 400 orang juruteta P3-21A dan seluruh warga kerja Proton yang terlibat bertungkus-lumus selama 24 bulan. Great Job!!!

Cuma tinggal satu lagi yang masih menjadi tanda tanya sehingga hari ini, apakah nama sebenar model Proton P3-21A ini? Persona? Tuah? Espire? atau Wira?

PROTON EXORA BOLD PREMIUM & EXORA PRIME TURBO

Proton has released official details of the Proton Exora Bold Premium and Exora Prime yesterday.The new Exora come with an all-new 1.6-litre Campro Charge Fuel Efficiency (CFE) 4-cylinder petrol engine with performance said to be comparable to that of a 2.0L engine.It is priced at RM79,998 for the Bold 1.6 Premium CVT and RM88,998 for the Exora Prime. Deliveries of the Exora Bold Premium and Exora Prime will only commence from the second week of January 2012. In the meantime, customers are invited to test drive the Exora Bold Premium with CVT at any Proton showroom.
 
In conjunction with the launch of the new variants, Proton is also organizing a Proton 4 U Day from  December 16 -18 at all Proton sales outlets nationwide. Door gifts are being offered to those who test-drive the Exora. The Exora Prime however, will not be available for a test-drive and can only be viewed at these outlets: Crystal Showroom, Juru Branch, Plentong Branch and Mutiara Damansara.

EXORA BOLD PREMIUM & EXORA PRIME

For the Exora Prime, it is equipped with some enhancements.The exterior upgrades include an all-new front and rear bumper design, electric folding door mirrors; rear disc brakes; blacked-out headlamps; smoked rear combination lights; 16-inch inch gold-finished alloy rims; a rear garnish finishing; and a newly-introduced colour known as Absolute Brown.The Exora Prime is also equipped with second row Captain’s Seats – which make it 6-seater MPV, headrest monitors and an audio system incorporating GPS route navigation and a reverse camera.

While for the Exora Bold Premium, it also equipped with electric folding door mirrors, rear disc brakes, 16-inch alloy wheels, and a new front and rear bumper design. The interior has sportier treatment in the form of a dual-tone combination leather seats with liquid silver appointments on the gear panel bezel, door switch cover, air-conditioning vent outlets and inner door handles. This variant also has a reverse camera and rearview mirror incorporating a LCD.

Both the Exora Prime and the Exora Bold Premium used the Campro CFE engine. This CFE engine puts out 138 hp at 5,000 rpm and 205 Nm of torque from 2,000 to 4,000 rpm from 1.6 litres.This CFE engine runs on the same 10:1 compression ratio as the CPS engine without forced induction, it has a stroke of 86 mm, 2 mm less than the CPS engine. The bore remains the same for both engines but it is not known if the stroke length is due to using a shorter con-rod or a different piston. The resulting displacement is 1561 cc instead of 1597 cc. Paired to a CVT gearbox, top speed is 185 km/h and 0-100 km/h is done in 13.3 seconds. Claimed fuel consumption is 7.8 litres per 100 km.

BOLD EXECUTIVE & STANDARD

Besides the Bold Premium & Prime versions that used the CFE engine & CVT gearbox,  the Exora is also being offered in Bold Executive version and Standard version.Both are powered by a 1.6-litre Campro CPS engine and available with both manual and automatic transmissions. The Standard version with manual transmission is priced at RM59,998.While the Executive version models is priced at RM70,998 for manual and RM74,998 for automatic transmission.

SAGA FLX CVT 0-100 KM/H SPEC

Here we share the video captured during acceleration from 0-100 km/h in a Proton new Saga FLX CVT continuous variable transmission gearbox in two mode – normal auto and stepped auto SAT mode. According to the specification, the CVT transmission gives acceleration time of 14.5 seconds from 0-100km/h for the 1.3 litre engine. We’ve tried both mode and found out the acceleration is around 14 seconds for both normal auto and SAT.

The difference between both mode is CVT normal auto mode gives more smooth acceleration while SAT gives quite rough acceleration maintaining RPM 5000-5500 with 5 speed auto. In conclusion, the SAT mode not really gives much differences. better stick to CVT normal auto mode. The disadvantage of the new CVT gearbox is it has no control over the 5 speed gear. Only L and D gear available for front move. While old 4 speed auto gearbox has L-2-3-D for driver to shift at anytime. The main advantages of CVT are smooth acceleration, fast low RPM response and better fuel consumption.
