HYUNDAI MALAYSIA EXPECT TO RETAIN GOOD SALE THIS YEAR

KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 (Bernama) — Hyundai Sime Darby Motors Sdn Bhd (HSDM) hopes to maintain good sales this year amid the economic slowdown, its head of marketing, Kelvin Chuah, said.

He said the company had been able to achieve annual sales of 7,000 vehicles in the past and with the recession, being able to maintain such a momentum will require commendable efforts.

Nevertheless, the company hopes to achieve sales of between 7,000 and 8,000 vehicles by end of this year, he said.

He was speaking to reporters after the launch of Hyundai’s latest model, i30.

Chuah said HSDM managed to retain good sales in the first half of the year with 4,000 cars sold during the period.

HSDM line-up of cars include the Sonata, Avante, Accent, Matrix, Coupe Santa Fe, Tucson, Grand Starex, i10, Getz and i30.

There will be a lot of promotions this year and the company has already embarked on two programmes to attract more customers, he said.

The two programmes consist of the reduction of interest rate for car loans amounting to five-year tenure and the Hyundai Assurance Programme.

“What we have now is 1.99 percent interest rate for five-year tenure loan. This 1.99 percent interest rate is applicable only for five-year loans. Of course for the seven-year or nine-year tenure, the interest rate is different,” he said.

Chuah said the reduction in interest rate is extended to all Hyundai cars except Grand Starex.

Under the Hyundai Assurance Programme meanwhile, the company offers options to reduce the burden for its customers who have lost their jobs in the first year of buying a car from them.

These buyers will have the option to either return their car and get a used car for the value of the loan paid.

“The buyers also have the option in the first three months to actually look for a second job while our insurance company will actually pay for the installment,” he said.

On the latest model, Chuah said the company has brought in 80 units of the i30 into the country.

The Hyundai i30 has an on-the-road price of RM92,388 for the 1.6 M/T, RM97,888 for the 1.6 A/T and RM112,888 OTR for the 2.0 A/T.

The new model will be available for viewing at all HSDM sales outlets from August 1.
