Sime Darby Auto ConneXion Sdn Bhd has launched another new model to boost the current line-up of Ford models available in Malaysia to four.

The new 2009 Ford Everest sport utility vehicle (SUV) comes with a fresh design and various contemporary features to suit its dominant tough image, the company said in a statement Monday.

The Ford Everest is available with either a 143PS 2.5-litre of 156PS 3.0-litre DuraTorq TDCi common-rail turbodiesel engine.

Auto ConneXion said customers have a choice of either a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic with the new Everest 2.5-litre.

The 3.0-litre model comes with a five-speed automatic transmission.

Retail prices for the new Everest in Peninsular Malaysia are RM145,888 for the 2.5-litre XLT (manual), RM156,888 for the 2.5-litre XLT (automatic) and RM169,888 for the 3.0-litre XLT (automatic).

For Sabah and Sarawak, the 2.5-litre XLT (manual), 2.5-litre XLT (automatic) and 3.0-litre XLT (automatic) models are priced at RM149,388, RM160,388 and RM173,388 respectively.

Auto ConneXion said due to strong demand from fleet customers, the first batch of the new Everest had already been pre-booked.

Delivery for orders made now will only start from September onwards, it said.
