After some time of using a rota rims on our official test car, we are going to share some review on good and bad problems of buying rota grid wheels with stretched wide tyres (rim rota, tayar terkeluar lebar, body kereta)
ROTA RIMS REVIEW GOOD AND BAD Problem – TOP 3 ROTA GRID WHEELS DESIGN IN MALAYSIA
Rota rims basically a wider rims with different setup of width and offset. The available rota rim spec are 15x7jj, 15x8jj, 15×8.25jj, 16x8jj, 16×8.25jj, 16x9jj, 17x8jj,17x9jj and many other rare setup for rota grid wheels.
It shows “rim size in inches x width in jj” the higher jj value is the wider the rims.
Instead of different rota grid width jj, it has various offset which includes most extended wheels with offset 0 ET or offset ET20 or 30. The lowest the number, your tyres will be placed more outward (tayar terkeluar dari body) from your car body wheel archs
What type of tyre to use with rota rims?
As long as you are using the same rim size, you are good to go with just sport rim change and use back your current tyres. For example, if you are using 15″ tyre with 195 width and 50 series, you can fit in up to 15×8.25jj rota sport rims. If you are using 16 inch or 17 inch tyres, use it back. Just change the rims. It will stretch the tyres out with the rims.
The good review of using rota rims:
+ surprisingly improved in handling and cornering more steady due to the changes in car width wheel track.
+ a lot of tyre noise sound reduction which i can say more than 50% of road and tyre contact noise has been reduced which gives a silent cabin. Usually i need to increase radio volume when passing 100kmh but now no need to adjust anymore.
+ a very comfortable ride, better uneven road shock absorbtion. Before using rota rim, when going through zebra crossing line, the sound is hard like (tap, tap, tap) but after using rota sport rim, the tyres which is stretched absorb it nicely and gives lower note of sound (dup, dup, dup) which contribute to comfortable ride.
Bad issue and problems of using rota rims :
– tyres rubbing the inner wheel well body at the wheel archs fender edge. (Tayar sangkut / sagat)
The solution is, you need to knock the body metal piece that touching with the tyres by using mallet or metal rolling special tools to fold it nicely. If still have problem, fit in spring buffer cushion, sport spring, adjustable suspension or hard absorber. Or you can put higher spring rubber mat (getah pelapik spring) to increase the cars height.
– need to be more careful on the road due to wider rims have no protection from the car body and tyres side wall. Especially when turning and on uneven road condition.
