Recently we have a test drive trip to Terengganu with the new Myvi 1.5 SE Special Edition Lagi power Lagi Best. The Myvi 1.5 test drive review session covers more than 700km from KL via karak, kuantan to Cherating Terengganu. Our main concern is to do the fuel consumption test and acceleration test on the New Myvi 1.5 litre DVVT. We have concluded that the new Myvi 1.5 is a fuel efficient compact car. New Myvi SE and Myvi Extreme 1.5 Auto and Manual Price range from RM50,900 – RM61,700
NEW MYVI 1.5 REVIEW SE SPECIAL EDITION EXTREME TEST DRIVE REVIEW
The result of fuel consumption (penggunaan minyak) of Myvi 1.5 SE stated below:
>> Travelling 110km using RM13.26 which is 6.97895litre petrol at constant cruising speed 80km/h +-10 on highway MYVI 1.5 REVIEW
= 12.0545 cent per km (RM0.12 per km) = 15.76 km/litre (16.6km/litre on the meter)
>> We start to mark the half tank at 410km journey.
>> Then we fill up RM10 which can travel 68km (to 478km at half tank) in a mixed drive condition 60-100kmh = 5.263litre = 14.71 cent per km (RM0.14705 per kilometer) = 12.92 km/liter
>> We mark at 532 km of our journey at 3rd bar, fill up RM15 which can travel 124km (656km at 3rd bar) normal highway driving 90-110kmh speed range = 0.1209677 cent per km (RM0.12097 per kilometer) = 15.7 km/litre
>> The 3rd bar gives 52km mileage (from 656km at 3rd bar to 708km at 2nd bar) on normal mixed drive.
>> The last bar gives 105km from full tank.
>> Overall Myvi 1.5 fuel consumption = RM0.12-RM0.147 per km travel from steady mood to mixed drive mood.
City drive condition depends on the traffic. We expect the worst FC is (14.7-12.0)+14.7 = 17.4 cent per km (RM0.174) = 10.91954 km/litre

Our opinion on the interior side – The new myvi 1.5 SE has a very nice dashboard design with futuristic optitron meter in red lighting, nice new steering wheel wrapped with leather, a good all in one player which incorporates bluetooth, cd player, radio and usb port. The gear knob is located near the steering at the dashboard feels quite loose. The 4 speakers sound quality is the worst we ever heard. But no worry, just change the speakers to the new better component speakers and mid base speakers with the cost of around Rm500 only.
MYVI 1.5 REVIEW
There is no issue about the legroom. Just enough and comfortable. The seat nicely fit to your body but the headrest is too hard where sometimes you feels like you are hitting your head to a stone while driving. The rear seat is high but the headrest below your head. For long journey, not good for rear passenger. The head room for rear passenger also limited to a normal height person. A person with around 178cm tall will have slight problem when sitting at the rear passenger seat.
The dashboard material quality has been improved by using a better plastic which has scratch resistance. The air condition now better than before. even with the lowest setting, it provides very cool air inside the cabin.
The 1.5 litre DVVT engine provides enough power whenever you need it. You would not need to push the fuel pedal hard for it to move. Just a slight touch with your foot, the engine will immediately response. It is very easy for the Myvi 1.5 to maintain speed at 80 and 90 kmh on a karak highway at around 2000 RPM with just a small input from your right leg. The low RPM torque is very good considering that it is a very light car below 1000kg with 1500 cc engine capacity. The RPM shows around 2000 at 80-90kmh and 2500 at 100km/h.

The long-stroke all-aluminium DVVT engine is the 3SZ-VE, similar to that in the Alza but tuned a bit differently to suit the lighter Myvi. Compared to the 1.3-litre engine, power output is up 13% to 103 ps while there’s 16% more torque at 136 Nm. Though the new Myvi with a 200 cc larger engine is, on average, about 1.5% heavier, the extra output improves the weight-to-power ratio by 11%. Manual and automatic transmissions are available, like the Myvi 1.3.
THE ACCELERATION TEST :
View the video to see the acceleration test of Perodua Myvi 1.5 SE from 0-100 km/h. The New Myvi 1.5 able to accelerate 0-100kmh within 12 seconds on a flat road. This is the best number we can get. We have tried the manual shifting but there is no point actually because the 2nd gear ends at 120kmh and the option on the gear panel is just from 2,3,D only. No “1″ or “L” selection for it to maintain the first gear up to maximum RPM.

The maximum speed of the new myvi 1.5 is 170km/h. You will only get 170+ 2@3 when you go downhill. But seriously, do not ever try this because you can feel very strong wind pushing the car at 140kmh from the side. This is due to the design of the compact car which is not aerodynamic. The car is designed for city and normal drive seriously not for high speed. The suspension setup is really hard which cannot absorb the uneven road condition on our normal highway at higher speed.
So, do not ever drive the Myvi 1.5 at high speed. It is very light and really not stable at high speed due to suspension and aerodynamic factor.
On normal driving, you can feel the hardness of the suspension even at low speed around 80-90kmh, it fails to absorb uneven road surface which gives you more vibration and like always shaking in your car. But the noise insulation is very good.

bro, suspension 1.3 ngan 1.5 mane lg selesa?..aku dah book 1.5..tapi x sempat nak test drive..yang 1.3 pnah naek…rase suspension lembut2 selesa..aku ade bace 1.5 ni die tune suspension bagi firm sikit..
1.5 ni lg selesa…sebab lebih berat…1.3 terlalu ringan…bila jln x rase melompat2…..dari segi brek 1.5 telah dipertingkatkn….disc rotor & caliper lebih besar….

Aku belum pernah bawa myvi 1.5, tapi dari apa yg aku dpt tgk, follow blkg kat karak, suspension mmg lebih keras dari 1.3 corner mmg kurang rolling. Cuma bila dlm keadaan slow, boleh nampak bahagian depan terhenjut. Tu adalah tanda suspension terlampau keras. Utk bawa laju merembat corner mmg best, tp bila slow or nak bawa steady dlm 100km/h, akan rasa tak selesa. Ni apa yg aku tgk la, mungkin bila ada peluang aku kena bawa baru leh komen panjang.
Yup, memang suspension myvi 1.5 ni lagi keras dari myvi 1.3.. Kalau drive relax2 pn begegar rasa kat dalam. Lekuk2 jalan yg sikit pn die x dapat absorb. Rasanya mmg utk setting racer ni..
Insyaallah ada masa kitorang test exora bold n flx se pulak.. :-)

Eder: pengalaman aku main-main suspension (dah kaki touge), increase power/kapasiti enjin dlm 10% dari asal masih boleh guna standard suspension setup, tak perlu nak tukar lagi, cuma perlu improve braking power, tu pun tak perlu tukar rotor besar, cukup sekadar tukar brake pad yg lebih baik atau kalau nak lagi rasa sedap, pakai rotor slotted.
tapi ni utk normal driving la, bila dh mula nak main corner, mmg kena cari absorber lagi keras. plus short stroke abrsorber utk respond rebound lagi cepat.
mungkin myvi 1.5 ni mmg betul2 target utk kaki racing kot (kete ni masuk kategori kete sukan ke??)

Ni review dari kawan aku yang dah pakai saga flx 1.3 auto. Dah pakai 6 bulan. Kira antara org terawal beli. Sebelum ni menggunakan vios auto type G (abah punye). Sudah pun pergi ke sc untuk quality program. Dalam quality program tu tukar someting kat cvt oil pump dan resultnya minyak lagi jimat. Dulu normal driving RM10 leh dpt 75km. Lepas buat quality program dapat lebih 80km++.

aku punye myvi 1.5 SE suspension rase okay..mase test drive gune 1.5 extreme suspension mmg macam kete racing..haha..tapi salesman tu cakap yg SE takde la keras macam ni..memang aku bawak kete aku okay je..acceptable la..kete aku baru dalam 3 minggu..so far tak de pape problem lagi..bab minyak memang kalo jalan dalam bandar kete ni memang kuat minyak..highway okay..tapi kalo nak jimat minyak dalam bandar dan highway, memang 1.3 la lagi jimat..nak kate 1.5 ni power sgt pon aku rase biase je..tak tahu la 1.3 camne power die..lagi satu, maybe kete baru memang kuat minyak sikit..cube lpas servis 5000km kalo banyak minyak jugak memang tak boleh nak buat ape la aku rase..
semua tu bergantung ada owner sendiri….klau dapat kereta baru terus lenjan tuk jngka masa panjang mmg sakit…….1.3 ok je mnyak….pickup & top speed amat memuaskan……bab handling & suspension x bole ambik kira r sbb kereta kompak….

Dari review ni macam kuat je minyak. Lagi kuat dari saga flx 1.6. Ada jugak consider nak beli kereta untuk pegi keja. Nak ambik viva kang macam tin kosong(tapi minyak mmg champion, jimat gila). Tunggu dulu je lah..
myvi 1.5 aku bleh dapat 17km/l kat highway..itu bacaan dari panel meter sendiri la..mileage skarang baru dalam 700 lebih..belum 1st service lagi..kalo saga flx 1.6 cvt spatutnye memang jimat minyak..dulu pun aku ingat nak angkat flx..last2 amik myvi..
Hie there, I have the new Myvi 1.5 SE (AT) and i’d like to know from you abt the engine start up instruction given to me by the perodua salesman to me on the delivery day. He told me to start the car first i’d have to turn the ignition to the “ON” position n i will see the ABS sign and another sign (its on the left whr the rev meter is at), he said once tht to indicatort goes off thn i cld start the car. Whn i asked him why do i need to do tht? he explains that by doin tht whn i put in the “ON” position it will pull the fuel into the engine or something to tht effect….Cld you explain to me on whtr thts true or should i just ignore it and start like normal (which is just straight away start the car with out waitin at the “ON” position)… coz ive done tht like a couple of time due to not remeberin to put it on “ON” position n i wld like to knw if its bad fr the car? Hi kesh, yup. What he said is true. When you put the key to on, the fuel pump will run first. So you can start easily. No harm if you want to straight away start without waiting.
Seingat aku lah…. Boleh terus start tanpa tunggu lampu tu padam dengan syarat kereta mesti dalam idle for a few second. Klu start terus masuk gear dan jalan…. Hahaha…. beware beb…
semalam aku baru pegi Jerantut..range dari rumah ke Jerantut adalah nak 200km..lalu MTD, pastu LPT, exit kat Temerloh. Mase pegi aku tak kire sangat minyak. tapi mase kat jerantut, sebelum balik, isi minyak rm20. range sebelum isi kalo tak silap aku dalam 111km. bile isi caltex rm20 range jadi 239km. then aku drive sampai balik dah nak sampai rumah meter range minyak tinggal dalam 103km kalo tak silap aku la..so roughly kalo rm20 minyak boleh dapat hampir 200km kan?..sebab bagi aku meter range tu adalah lagi tepat kalau nak kire berape minyak ada dalam tank. aku drive dalam 110kmh ikut speed limit..hehe..tapi kat bukit2 MTD tu memang rev2 la jugak sebab naik bukit..kesimpulan aku, myvi 1.5 kalau highway memang jimat minyak..kat bandar biase2 je..kalau nak jimat kat bandar, jangan accelerate cepat2..
