NAZA TO FINALISE DEAL WITH GM MOTORS THIS YEAR.
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6 — The Naza Group of Companies is to finalise the deal with General Motors (GM), particularly for the distribution of Chevrolet cars within this year, said joint group executive chairman SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin.
The group recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with General Motors Thailand to distribute Chevrolet cars and parts in Malaysia.
The MoU was signed between SM Faisal and General Motors Southeast Asia Operations and Chevrolet Sales (Thailand) Ltd. president, Steve Carlisle.
In a statement on Monday, Naza said the MoU was part of the group’s ongoing efforts to continuously look out for viable business opportunities with foreign partners, to complement and consolidate its automobile sales portfolio.
It was earlier reported that Naza was looking to take over the Chevrolet brand in Malaysia.This was also even before the official break up announcement by DRB-HICOM and GM.
Analysts have described Naza’s take over of Chevrolet as being quite interesting, as it already handles one of the company’s big rivals in Kia.
They stated that a big topic on the discussion table with GM would be, how Naza is going to manage this situation.
