MATRADE SECURED RM1.37 MILLION IN SALES OF AUTOMOTIVE PARTS
KUALA LUMPUR, — Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation’s (MATRADE) recent specialised marketing missions to Thailand and Vietnam clinched RM1.37 million in sales of automotive parts and components.
Mission members also concluded an additional RM6.74 million in potential sales.
Matrade said in a statement Monday that automotive products sold included automotive gaskets, metal stampings, wire harnesses, car accessories and plastic injections mouldings.
“The mission to Thailand was a success as it has carved a strategic platform for Malaysian automotive companies to strengthen their presence in Thailand,” a spokesperson was quoted as saying in the statement.
Seven Malaysian companies participated in pre-scheduled meetings and 60 such meetings were held between Malaysian companies and foreign buyers throughout the duration of the mission from Aug 18-21, 2009.
As for the mission to Vietnam , 26 Vietnamese automotive companies conducted 105 business meetings with 21 Malaysian automotive companies, with resulted in RM22.75 million in potential sales.
The statement said many Thai and Vietnamese buyers acknowledged the design and quality of Malaysian automotive parts and components.
“They were equal, if not better, than those offered by more established companies from competing countries.
“Furthermore, the mission to Vietnam was equally successful in enhancing the image of Malaysian manufacturers in Vietnam’s automotive market,” said the spokesperson, adding that it also allowed manufacturers to broaden and diversify their export revenue streams.
