LOWER INSURANCE RATE FOR CAR WITH SECURITY SYSTEM !

A good news for car owners who have any security system to enjoy lower rate of insurance payment yearly. Nowadays, most of the car in Malaysia has the security system so many of us will enjoy the lower rate announced by government. Full news from bernama below

Owners of vehicles with security systems will enjoy lower insurance premiums than those without security systems.

 

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the incentive was to reward vehicles owners who installed security systems to prevent theft.

 

“To this end, the Steering Committee of the Vehicle Theft Reduction Council headed by Bank Negara Malaysia will discuss and fix the Proportional Insurance Premium Policy,” he said in a statement here Thursday.

 

The discussions to be held in February will also involve the General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM).

 

The insurance tariff will be prepared by Bank Negara Malaysia.

 

Hishammuddin said Ops Lejang launched on Jan 1 to check motorcycle theft (curi motor) led to 658 arrests and seizure of 619 motorcycles and components.

 

Johor had the most number of cases with 170 followed by Kuala Lumpur (75) and Terengganu (69). Of those arrested, 119 had been charged in court.

 

“I expect more arrests by the time Ops Lejang ends on Jan 31. I hope the investigation papers can be completed fast so that they can charged and punished.”

 

He said Ops Lejang was launched after data showed that 32 percent or 67,726 of the 211,645 cases in the Crime Index 2008 involved motorcycle thefts.

 

As of Jan 24, some 137,622 motorcycles had been inspected nationwide.
