Bright Rims Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. (BRM) was incorporated on 18 May 1981 to manufacture JRD aluminium alloy wheels for motor vehicles. The factory is located on a 18-hectare site in Selangor, Malaysia. BRM plans to build its second plant on a 60 hectare site next to Proton City in Tanjung Malim, Perak. This plant activities include automotive parts manufacturing and motorcycle assembly.
The founder and Managing Director of the company is Dato’ Jimmy Liew. To ensure the quality of products, he has travelled all over the world to look for the right partners with the right technology.
BRM has successfully established itself as the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for many automakers & assemblers in Malaysia. BRM has captured more than 90% of the OEM market in Malaysia. The customers include: Proton, Perodua, Citroen, Daihatsu, Ford, Hyundai, Isuzu, KIA, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot, Renault, Suzuki, Fiat and other vehicle manufacturers.
To ensure that all the alloy wheels produced by BRM are up to the expected quality, the factory is fully equipped with hi-tech machines and equipment to carry out the following inspections, tests and examinations:
- X-ray inspection
- Impact test
- Air leak test
- Dynamic radial test
- Hardness test
- Spectrometric analysis of alloy composition
- Computerized 3D coordinate measurements (CMM)
- Microscopic examination for structural tests
- Roundness tests
- Cornering fatigue test
- Salt spray test
- Tensile test
To ensure that the product quality is internationally up to the mark, JRD wheels were sent to TUV of Germany for testing and certification, and in 1993 the company became the first alloy wheel manufacturer in Malaysia to be given a TUV marking. Furthermore, in matching clients’ needs, its wheels were also sent to the Vehicle Inspection Agency (VIA) of Japan for tests and passed. In line with the needs of the Automobile OEM requirements, BRM improved its quality and processes to meet the requirements of ISO: TS 16949:2002 and received TS certification in the year 2004.
