The sexy hatchback coupe sports car from Hyundai, the Hyundai Veloster will be launched early next year. It features 2+1 door with 1 rear hidden door, 1.6 litre 132 horsepower Gamma II engine. It will be displayed in Car Of The year presentation at Martrade on 12&13 November by Hyundai Malaysia. The expected price range will be below RM120k to compete with the new CR-Z 1.5litre hybrid and peugeot 308 turbo.

HYUNDAI VELOSTER IN MALAYSIA 2012
The Hyundai Veloster three-door coupe will go on sale locally in the first quarter of 2012.
The Veloster, which combines the style of a coupe and the functionality of a hatchback, carves out a new space in the compact coupe segment.
Its styling and features such as the stealth third door makes it an intriguing car, with a design inspired by a high-performance sports bike.
The coupe is equipped with an engine start/stop button and comes with a 1.6L Gamma II engine that produces 132hp and a 6-speed transmission. It will be available in automatic and manual transmission. Complete specifications of this model will be announced at the launch.
Distributor Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors is studying the possibility of bringing in the GDi (Gasoline Direction injection) and Turbo GDI model in the near future with a consideration of the fuel quality here. A decision will be made upon the completion of this study.

The Veloster is the sixth vehicle in Hyundai’s 24/7 version 2.0 product initiative (seven new models in 24 months). It comes on the heels of the new Tucson, Sonata, Equus, Elantra and Accent.
The Veloster sports black A-pillars that give the glass a “motorcycle helmet visor” appearance. In the front is Hyundai’s signature hexagonal front grille, hood scoop detailing, Hyundai-signature LED position lights and a large panoramic sunroof.
The available panoramic sunroof affords a good view to the top, and with the touch of a finger, transforms the comfortable cabin by filling it with air and light.
Some coupes have used smaller rear-hinged access doors. These coupes always require opening the driver-side door before the rear door could be opened, proving to be an inconvenience for both the driver and passenger, and extremely difficult to operate in tight parking.
Hyundai, however, implemented a conventionally hinged door on the passenger side (curbside door) of the Veloster, providing safe and ready access to the rear seats. The passenger-side rear door handle is hidden to maintain the coupe’s fluidic design.
The Veloster’s low, coupe profile enhances its aerodynamics and improves fuel economy.
It features “Fluidic Sculpture” character lines, muscular wheel arches, bodycolour door handles and mirrors, and new design 6-LED decorated projection headlamps.
The rear design is enhanced by a distinctive glass hatch, dual-centred chrome exhaust tips and black lower fascia that complements the front fascia.
In addition, the Veloster packs 440 cubic litres of boot space and split fold-down rear seats for versatile storage.
Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors will be displaying the car at the COTY2U Autoshow on Nov 12-13 at the Matrade Exhibition & Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
