Installing gear knob for manual transmission and gated shift auto transmission knob is quite easy. But installation of auto gear knob with shifting button is a bit complicated.. =D Hope this step with pictures will give you some ideas on how to install auto gear knob yourself.
Searching for auto gear knob with shift button is quite hard due to there is not much choice for the auto gear knob. usually car accessories shop selling the manual gear knob only. If you can find it, you might be the lucky one.
We managed to find the cheap auto gear knob for installation demo and tutorial for you guys. It is a momo brand auto gear knob with shift button. The price of auto gear knob (harga tombol gear automatik) is around RM28. It should not be more than RM100.
First, take out the standard gear knob by unscrew it. Then make a hole with the size of allen key screw provided in the new gear knob set if the hole did not fit with the new gear knob. Make 4 holes around the gear stick by using drill machine with metal drill bit with the size similar to allen key screw diameter.
This is the allen key screw (4 pieces) and one extra long screw provided.

Then put the gear knob on the gear stick and allign the screw with the holes. Then tighten it by using allen key.
Dont forget to put the sleeve into the gear stick first before you put the gear knob. Then screw in the gear knob sleeve to the auto gear knob. Done! =)

is tat suit old type auto gear knob? the button is on the right side (not at top)
It can suit any type of auto gear whether button on top or side of the knob. Because the mechanism is the same. When you press the button, you will push the internal stick which will unlock the gear to allow it to move.
I have an experience of changing the auto gear knob with top button to the gear knob with side button. Its the same. :-)
After changing my knob it now won’t lock at 3rd gear. Meaning I don’t need to press anything also I can shift from D to 3 and then to 2. How ar?
Same thing happen to me. You should cut or grind a bit the internal plastic stick. Make it shorter so it has some space to spring back up the knob and lock the gear. The internal stick may be too long.
