HONDA MALAYSIA PLEDGES RM1 MILLION FOR EDUCATION
Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd has pledged RM1 million for education this year under the Honda Dreams Fund (HDF).
“This is the company’s third year of commitment towards the HDF. It is our hope to help turn dreams of deserving youths to reality via education,” said Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Atsushi Fujimoto.
According to the company’s marketing manager Akkbar Danial, the uniqueness of the fund is that it is a full and non-binding scholarship with the aim of helping Malaysian youths who have a dream to realise.
“We are also increasing the fund’s reach to the indigenous communities by organising promotional campaigns in remote rural areas. This is to create awareness among deserving youths there,” he added.
The fund is open to all Malaysians aged between 17 to 24 and who have passed their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) examinations.
Previously, 40 scholars had benefitted from the fund, and the company is giving an opportunity for 20 more youths this year.
The fund is a five-year joint-collaboration between Honda Malaysia and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
To apply, candidates are required to write an essay on their aspirations in not more than 500 words.
The closing date for submissions is March 31.
