AUDI CONCEPT E-TRON – THE MINI R8 WITH A CHARGING PLUG

At the Frankfurt Motor Show, Audi booth had showcased the new e-Tron concept, a high performance sports coupe with a full electric drive system. The concept car looks like the Audi R8 but smaller. Instead of using a petrol engine like the R8 does, th e-Tron utilize four electric motor individually for all four wheels. The combination of four motors gives out 230kw/313hp of power along with a mind-blowing 4,500 Nm (3,319 lb-ft) of torque!
The four electric motors accelerate the car from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds and from 60-120 km/h in 4.1 seconds. The top speed of the car is limited to 200km/h.
Juices comes from a lithium-ion battery which has a storage capacity of 42.4 kilowatt hours giving the e-Tron a driving range of approximately 248 kilometers or 154 miles. The battery unit weight approximately 470 kg which is basically quarter of the weight of the car which is around 1600 kg.
The body structure of the e-Tron is based on Audi Space Frame (ASF) technology while all add-on parts, including the doors, covers, sidewalls and roof are made of a fiber-reinforced plastic.
