BMW Malaysia now assemble the new bmw 3 series, 320d and 328i at Kulim and sell it at a rm20k lower price from rm250k to rm290k.
“Since we introduced the all new sixth generation BMW 3 Series in March this year, the premium sports sedan has rapidly grown to become the number one bestseller and key contributor to our growth in becoming Malaysia’s number one best-selling premium carmaker as of the first quarter of 2012,” said the company’s corporate communications manager, Sashi Ambi.
The quality of the Kulim-assembled cars is as good as the imported ones, he added.
New to the locally assembled variants is the option of BMW Lines, a move by the company to add some degree of customisation that includes specific exterior and interior designs as well as equipment elements.
The 328i is available in either Sport Line or Luxury Line whilst the 320d comes for the first time with the Sport Line and Modern Line.
The 328i is further fitted with ConnectedDrive apps, providing drivers with a number of convenience, infotainment and safety functions.
Over 12 million units of the 3 Series have been sold since 1975, making it the best-selling sports sedan globally.
The retail price for the 320d and 328i are RM248,800 and 289,800 respectively. Both variants are RM20,000 cheaper than the first batch of fully imported units that were introduced at the launch in March.
